Integrate Legacy ERP System with Customer Facing Website

Toronto

Industry: Supply Chain
Client Base: Ontario
Technology Solutions: WordPress, C#, MS SQL Server
Client Since: 2019

Problem

Our client uses a legacy, Windows based ERP system for managing their inventory, sales and customer data. This system was not connected to the web in any way meaning that

  • Customers are not able to self-serve to place orders or manage order status/information
  • Potential customers are not able to see available products
  • Limited potential for our client or their customers to leverage buying pattern information for efficiencies
  • Time consuming process for the client to update web facing resources with product information - limiting exposure and increasing discrepancies and incomplete data
Solution

We built a custom C# application to pull data from the ERP system database (SQL Server), transform and make that data available to multiple customer-facing website (WordPress using MySQL). Products, customer shipping data, order information and complex pricing data are brought over on a nightly basis. From the ERP system to a customer facing Wordpress website where existing customers are able to login to view and place orders along with up-to-date product inventory and pricing information.

A second public facing website, aimed at potential customers, is able to showcase the breadth and depth of inventory currently available.

Results

Customers are pleased with self-serve options and have a higher retention rate with the new online systems. Client is spending less time internally to share information with customers and has more time to invest in new growth opportunities.
